The CardioMEMS™ uses a small, wireless monitoring sensor implanted in the pulmonary artery to directly measure the arterial pressure. The system allows patients to transmit this data from their homes to their health care clinicians allowing for personalized and proactive heart failure management.
“The system provides real-time patient change notifications, as well as simple and convenientaccess to protected data for individualized patient treatment. It also gives patients a greater understanding of the elements impacting their health, as well as a strong sensation of control”, said Dr. Mohamed Khan, Interventional Cardiologist and Medical Director of Cardiology Services at Shasta Regional Medical Center.
The sensor does not have a battery or leads and is very small. Once implanted, the sensor wirelessly sends pressure readings to the external patient electronic system. There is no pain or sensation for the patient during the readings. The electronics transmit the readings to a secure website where it can be seen by your specialist and their team.
