Redding, CA, March 7, 2014 — Shasta Regional Medical Center was just named for the second year in a row one of the nation’s 100 Top hospitals by Truven Health Analytics, based on several qualities of care metrics and patient satisfaction. Truven Health Analytics, formerly Thomson Reuters, is a leading provider of information and solutions to improve the cost and quality of health care for more than 21 years.
The Truven Health Analytics 100 Top Hospitals study evaluates performance in 10 areas: mortality; medical complications; patient safety; average patient stay; expenses; profitability; patient satisfaction; adherence to clinical standards of care; post-discharge mortality; and readmission rates for heart attack, heart failure, and pneumonia. The study has been conducted annually since 1993.
“This recognition – which we have received for the second consecutive year – shows that we are successfully and consistently achieving top quality results in patient care and satisfaction, said Cyndy Gordon, Shasta Regional’s CEO. “We have accomplished this award through the hard work, dedication and excellent patient care that our physicians, nurses and staff provide.”
Shasta Regional was also named as one of the 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals in the U.S. for superior inpatient performance in cardiovascular services, by Truven Health Analytics in 2013.
“This is an honor that our entire region can be proud of,” said Dr. Marcia McCampbell, Chief Medical Officer at Shasta Regional. “Our medical staff and employees strive to provide exceptional, compassionate care to every patient, every day, and this recognition supports that we are delivering on our promise.”
Only 10 California community hospitals made the 100 Top hospital list, eight of which are owned by Prime Healthcare Services — the parent company of Shasta Regional Medical Center.
