SRMC also received four out of five stars in specifically targeted categories including; heart attack care, emergency care, preventative care, surgical complications, heart failure, stroke, and hip/knee replacement.

“I would like to congratulate our Shasta Regional family of employees and physicians on this accomplishment. We have made significant progress as we strive for excellence in the care we provide our patients, and we look forward to achieving five stars in the future. I am proud to be a part of this great achievement and continued effort,” stated Casey Fatch, CEO, Shasta Regional Medical Center.

First made available to patients in 2005, Hospital Compare is based on 100 rigorously tested quality measures at more than 4,000 Medicare-certified hospitals as well as Veterans Health Administration and Military Health System hospitals.

“The Hospital Compare website and Star Ratings System are valuable consumer tools that provide important information on the safety and quality of our nation’s hospitals,” said CMS Administrator Seema Verma.

Patients and their families can use Hospital Compare to find hospitals and compare the quality of their care and patient experience.

The information on Hospital Compare helps the public make decisions about where they get health care and encourages hospitals to improve the quality of care they provide.
