This is a fully accredited chest pain center and one of the 50 Best Cardiovascular Hospitals in the country as identified by Watson Health. In addition to being ranked in the top 5% of the country for patient safety, we have received Five Stars for our treatment of respiratory and heart failure. The internal medicine residency program at Shasta Regional Medical Center, a part of Prime Healthcare, began in July 2023 after receiving accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Sponsored by the Prime West Consortium, the three-year residency program has 24 residents currently enrolled and can accommodate 8 residents annually. Our Residency Program trains physicians by offering a comprehensive education in all facets of internal medicine as well as knowledge and hands-on experience in healthcare delivery, research, teaching, and administration. After attending medical school at the University of California, Irvine, he completed his family practice internship in Denver, Colorado, and finished his residency at Natividad Medical Center in Salinas, California. Dr. Martinez worked as a staff physician at Santa Barbara Medical Foundation clinic for five years while also working as a part-time emergency room physician at Vanderburgh Air Force Base. After leaving the clinic,he open his own family practice before joining CHW Marian Hancock Medical Group where he practiced for many years. He returned home to Redding in 1999, where he built a thriving family practice, while he and his wife raised a family of five.
